CNET Content Solutions Releases DataSource 5.2

Wed, 05/30/2012

May 31, 2012 - We are pleased to announce the release of DataSource 5.2 on May 31, 2012. DataSource is the world’s leading source of independent product information powering many of the world’s largest e-commerce sites, portals, manufacturers, retailers, and resellers. The features released in DataSource 5.2 allow for more efficiency and streamlining of processes.

Three important features of DataSource 5.2 include:

  • Alternative Searchable Attributes
  • What’s in the Box
  • A new Frequently Asked Questions area for our customers

Alternative Searchable Attributes are intended to simplify and improve integration of CNET’s regular searchable attribute and include ready-to-publish and user-friendly attribute names, translations in all supported languages, identification of searchable attributes, recommended searchable attributes, display order, and attribute value ranges for numeric attributes. This optional attribute feed is published monthly and is available to all DataSource customers at no extra cost.

What’s in the Box is a DataSource component providing a list of the accessories and options bundled together under a single part number. CNET used to provide this information, but because data was based mainly on manufacturer feeds, coverage was low. We now are collecting What’s in the Box data separately for hardware and consumer electronic categories. What’s in the Box is optional and available to DataSource customers at no additional cost.

The Frequently Asked Questions list is now available to our DataSource customers and will help our customers with answers to the questions we hear most frequently. Question topics include account settings, CNET data feeds, and ContentConnector, among others.

These new features are available as of May 31. The DataSource 5.2 release represents CNET Content Solutions’ dedication to constant improvement and advancement of our products to meet the needs of IT and CE manufacturers, resellers, and retailers worldwide.
